Contacts - Contracting

SUPPLIES

CSF Supply contracting was established in 1997 and continues to be a key source of value to our members. While originally medical surgical supplies were contracted for, we are now branching out into support areas.

CAPITALS

CSF Capital Equipment contracting was established in the fall of 2002. Following the supply contracting philosophy, our capital equipment contracts establish a "prime vendor" relationship for a specific length of time. This can lead to vendor brand standardization in an individual service line or throughout the health systems. CSF actively participates in the generation of annual capital budgets. Both internal purchasing histories and external benchmarking research are utilized to create the budget and negotiate pricing, warranty, and other critical criteria prior to equipment purchases.

PHARMACEUTICALS

CSF Pharmaceutical direct contracting was initiated in the fall of 2003. The portfolio of contracts is wholly owned by CSF and continues to expand to help generate savings in an expense intensive area of health care. Pharmaceutical manufacturers are encouraged to participate with CSF and our members as we move forward with our systems approach to committed volume contracting. New products offered through existing contracts are encouraged in order to concentrate value with those companies.

IMPLANTS

The CSF Implant portfolio currently includes cardiac rhythm management, neurosurgical instrumentation, and orthopedic fracture management. The successful management of high cost high preference category (s) requires participation of administration, clinical leadership, and the medical staff in collectively recognizing the need for commitment to a process and a portfolio that yields both quality clinical results and economic effectiveness.

GENERAL & ADMINISTRATIVE

The General and Administrative category exists to capture support areas that do not directly apply to the acute care categories. This includes areas such as office supplies, reference and research resources, and software agreements. Members are encouraged to access CSF contracting to compliment their individual department need. Vendors are encouraged to go through CSF to achieve access to the members for these initiatives.
